Happy First Anniversary to us!  We at Octavia & Brown have had a thrilling and incredibly busy year (forgive us for the blog absence!) and we were so excited to celebrate with some of our favorite industry partners and creative collaborators! It may have been a chilly December night, but in the OB Studio celebratory warmth and good cheer was unbridled.

We wanted to give everyone a reason to jump into the holiday spirit, and to do that, we needed good food, delicious drinks, and festive decor! Our friends at Betty Brooklyn Catering provided us with deliciously abundant spreads, and the sisters of Cedar Lakes Estates kindly brought cozy hot cocoa and their infamous marshmallows for our “Adult Cocoa Bar”, which of course we served in our eclectic collection of vintage tea cups!  With great friends and vintage love abound, it was truly a great night!

Here are some of our favorite photos from the cheery night, captured by the incredible Cassidy Parker Smith!

A huge THANK YOU to all of those who have helped us make this year a huge success! The inspiration, collaboration, and creative endeavors have been truly wonderful.

Here’s to a joyous and prosperous 2015 for us all.  We can’t wait to see what our second year brings!

Last night we held a fabulous winter bash with Diana Tsao Events  at our Chelsea studio. On a very cold NYC night, the studio was filled with the some super fun folks from the NYC wedding industry. Can you tell we are obsessed with the gorgeous flowers from last night? Definitely a next day perk.

Of all the trends that 2014 has in store, we are are most looking forward to the 1930’s glamour meets modern day luxe. Gorgeous navy blue with pops of vibrant colour, exquisite fur, lavish silk and rich velvet are all characteristics to look for in this luxurious new trend.

We are so excited to relive the 1930s/40s that we just couldn’t wait to share our inspiration…

2013 was definitely a successful year for Octavia and Brown. This year we set our 2014 New Year’s resolutions even higher and we can’t wait to tackle them. What are your 2014 resolutions?

With the first week  of the New Year officially underway, we thought we’d take a look at our 2013 New Years resolutions before unveiling what 2014 has in store.

√ – 1. Travel More: We certainly had our fair share of good road trips this year. Especially our trip to India which was without a doubt, a trip of a lifetime.

√ – 2. Wake up Earlier: We’re still working on this one. Getting up early is never easy when you’re a night owl. Definitely something we’re adding again to the list in 2014.

√ – 3. Finally learn how to use our “new” Camera: Well it definitely took us long enough, but we’ve finally mastered how to use our “not at all new anymore” camera. I wouldn’t call us professional photographers just yet, but were getting there.

√ – 4. Host more Parties: 2013 was a huge success for parties here at Octavia and Brown. A highlight for us was definitely the launch of our vintage rentals business, the unveiling of our new website and the grand opening of our new showroom in Chelsea! (Hooray!) We can’t wait to host more parties in 2014.

√ – 5.  De-clutter: Well… we’re sad to say de-cluttering is never easy when you’re in the vintage prop rental business. As hard as we tried, we’re still working on it. However we’ve come to realize adding more stuff to a collection of really cool props is not always a bad thing.

All in all, we think 2013 turned out to be a great success. We’re thrilled with how far we’ve come and feel very grateful for the friends, family and colleagues who have supported us along the way. Stayed tuned for our 2014 resolutions and updates on exciting things we have planned in 2014.
